The House

Why the house is called Chocolate

Cocoa satin cape-dress with a gold patterned bib.

Ghana is one of the world's great growers of cocoa. For a century the beans left raw, and came back to the world as chocolate — a luxury finished somewhere else.

In 2013 Kwaku Bediako founded a fashion house in Accra and gave it the name of the finished thing. Not the bean. The chocolate.

Chocolate Clothes takes African culture as its source and cuts it for a global wardrobe. Every piece carries the same label, and the label carries the argument: made in Africa is a mark of luxury.
